It takes finely ground slurry from the grinding circuit, conditions it with reagents, and uses air bubbles to lift copper-bearing minerals into a froth that is collected as concentrate while gangue reports to tailings. Circuit design, not a single machine, determines grade and recovery.

The standard copper flotation circuit

A typical copper circuit runs in stages so that grade and recovery can be optimized together:

  1. Rougher: recovers the bulk of the copper at a lower grade from fresh feed.
  2. Scavenger: recovers remaining values from rougher tailings to push recovery up.
  3. Cleaner (one or more stages): re-floats the rougher concentrate to lift grade to a salable level, often 20-30% Cu.

Reagent scheme matters as much as cells. Xanthate or dithiophosphate collectors target copper sulfides, lime controls pH (commonly 9-11 to depress pyrite), and a frother stabilizes the froth. We bench-test your ore to set the scheme before fixing cell volumes.

Equipment and sizing

The plant is built from mechanical flotation machines arranged into banks, fed by upstream wet grinding and classification. Cell number and volume are set by feed tonnage, required residence time, and float kinetics. As an OEM manufacturer, Xinhai scales the circuit from small operations to large concentrators rather than offering one fixed size. Typical copper recovery falls in the 85-95% band, with the exact figure driven by liberation, oxidation, and clay content.

From flowsheet to commissioning

A flotation plant rarely stands alone; it sits between grinding and dewatering and is best delivered as part of an integrated line through our EPC+M+O service, from ore testing and flowsheet design through manufacturing, installation, and operator training. Buying the circuit single-source keeps the grinding, flotation, and dewatering interfaces clean and shortens commissioning. For the wider context of cell types and circuit logic, see the flotation cells and machines category and our copper ore beneficiation flowsheet guide.

JJF Flotation Machine | Mechanical Flotation Cell https://xinhai.xpyseo.com/products/jjf-flotation-machine/ Wed, 17 Jun 2026 16:57:54 +0000 https://xinhai.xpyseo.com/products/jjf-flotation-machine/ The JJF flotation machine is a mechanical, self-aerating flotation cell used to build the cell banks of a sulfide flotation circuit. Each cell agitates the slurry, draws in air, and creates a stable mineralized froth, so the right number and volume of cells gives the residence time a given ore needs to reach target recovery.

How the JJF cell works

A driven impeller rotating inside a stator generates suction that pulls air down a hollow shaft and shears it into fine bubbles distributed through the pulp. Conditioned, hydrophobic mineral particles collide with and attach to these bubbles, rise, and are removed as froth concentrate; hydrophilic gangue stays in the slurry. Because the cell is self-aerating, it needs no external blower, which lowers installed power and simplifies the layout.

  • Self-aerating impeller-stator: no separate air compressor required.
  • Large-volume circulation with relatively low power draw per cubic meter.
  • Adjustable froth depth and pulp level for grade-recovery tuning.
  • Stable, level-controlled banks that suit rougher, scavenger, and cleaner duties.

Sizing the cells

Cell selection follows the flotation kinetics of your ore. From bench and locked-cycle test data we set the total flotation volume needed for the required residence time, then split it into a practical number of cells per bank. Smaller cells (around 1-4 m³) suit cleaner and small-plant duty; larger cells (up to roughly 20 m³ in this range) handle rougher and scavenger banks at higher tonnage. As an OEM manufacturer, Xinhai matches cell count and volume to your throughput rather than forcing a fixed model.

Where JJF cells fit

JJF machines are the building blocks of plants such as our copper flotation plant and are fed by upstream grinding and classification, with the number of cells per bank set during flowsheet design. Browse the full flotation cells and machines range to compare cell types, and see our copper beneficiation flowsheet for how cells, reagents, and circuit stages work together. Complete circuits, from grinding through flotation to dewatering, can be delivered single-source through our EPC+M+O service.
